French Pink Clay
French Pink Clay is a combination of red and white clays. It's considered to be the mildest of all the clays and works gorgeously on sensitive, mature, rosacea-prone skin. Its unique composition includes Kaolinite, Iron, Illite, Montmorillonite and Calcite.
French Pink Clay is known to cleanse and detoxify the skin and remove dead skin cells. It's often used to treat acne and blemishes and is known to promote lymph circulation.
Organic Chamomille Flower Powder (Matricaria chamomilla)
Chamomile has long been a key ingredient in soothing skincare regimens. Even the ancient Greeks and Egyptians applied crushed chamomile flowers to their skin to treat weather-related redness and dryness.
I specifically chose Chamomile for its antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.
It also helps soothe redness, has a cooling effect and is therefore calming to inflamed skin.
Organic Dandelion root powder ( Taraxacum officinale)
You wouldn't think that dandelion has skin benefits, would you? Well, think again! Besides being one of my favorite herbs to support liver function (crucial in achieving clear, glowing skin) dandelion root extract promotes the generation of new skin cells and has been shown to slow down the aging process. Additional research shows that dandelion extract reduces skin inflammation and irritation while also increasing hydration and collagen production.
Organic Neem (Azadirachta indica)
I really wanted to get Neem in this formula not only for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties but for its well-researched effects on mites and other pathogens. It is also known to have cooling properties which is an action I'm looking for when soothing red, hot, inflamed skin.
Organic Aloe Vera Powder
I added Aloe to the formula for its cooling, calming, hydrating and soothing properties. Aloe supports the production and release of collagen, speeds up wound healing, and has been shown effective in treating fungal and bacterial overgrowth.
Organic Comfrey Root Powder (Symphytum officinale)
Comfrey roots contain allantoin, a substance that helps promote new skin cells growth, as well as Rosmarinic acid which is an antioxidant that helps protect against UV rays.
Comfrey also acts as a keratinolytic which softens keratin, a tough, inflexible protein found in the outer layer of the skin. By softening keratin, allantoin allows the skin to hold onto water better which makes it moister, softer, and better hydrated.
Comfrey (like most medicinal herbs) is considered a noxious weed yet if people knew its amazing benefits, everyone would have a comfrey plant in their backyard!
Organic Rose Powder (Rosa spp)
Rose petals contain polyphenols, antioxidants that work to protect your skin from cell damage. But most importantly, Rose is a heart opener, inviting us to love ourselves on our journey to glow. It has been an ally on my healing journey: I'm using it in my lattes, teas, or in a Flower Essence for its gentle energetic effect helping shift our consciousness to hold more self-love and self-compassion.
Witch Hazel Powder (Hamamelis virginiana)
I added a tiny little amount of Witch hazel to the formula for its cleansing and pore tightening properties which can be an issue in rosacea skin. In small amounts (and formulated with the other herbs in this formula), Witch hazel will not cause dryness.
